Carrying on from my last post, here are a couple of quick and easy friendship cards, made using Card Toppers.

FriendshipTopperHandmadeCard1This background paper is part of a stack I've had for ages and when I spotted this pretty floral topper it seemed as if they were meant to go together!

I simply mounted the topper and the sentiment (which came from the same sheet) onto silver Mirri card.

To add a bit of interest to the design I  punched the lower edge of the bacground paper with the Martha Stewart double loops punch.

The background card is a standard 6" x 6" white card blank.

This took me so little time to make yet it will let someone know how much I care for them.

Using the same background paper and another topper and sentiment from the same sheetFriendshipTopperHandmadecard2 I made this other quick card.

Both ideas are simple enough for you to copy using what you already have in your own stash of papers and toppers.

The idea is not to produce an elaborate card but to let someone know how much they mean to you.

I cannot believe how the time has flown since I last made a post here - I've been busy getting the March edition of "News and Views" out - this is the free monthly e-mag from Cardmaking-Companion which comes with a set of free background papers or card toppers every month.

If you don't already get it, and want to sign up for the newsletter then just look down in the right hand sidebar of this blog for the coffe cup and newspaper and fill in your details there (don't worry - we never share these details with anyone else!).

This month's freebies focused around Mother's Day which is on the 14th of March in the UK but differs in the rest of the world, for example in the USA it is the 2nd Sunday in May.

Here is one of the cards which I made from the set - the free printables can be printed in different sizes on your printer but I have kept this one full size and I have used a cream card blank 21cm x 15cm

I layered the large topper onto silver mirror card and fixed it to the card blank. I then decoupaged a single layer over the vase of tulips and added glitter highlights.

The ribbon sentiment was also matt and layered onto silver mirror card and fixed below the topper.

Inside the card I fixed a pale pink insert and punched a row of tulips along the bottom edge. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the insert and the card sold as soon as it went on display this morning!

My own Mother died from cancer over 22 years ago but this does not take away the joy I still get from making Mother's Day cards. If you are lucky enough to have your Mother still with you then please don't forget to make her day special and make that special handmade card just for her.

Are you an organised sort of person who is always on top of things and has all the handmade Christmas cards finished by the beginning of December?

Or are you like me, with 101 things left to do at the last minute?

Well just in case you still haven't completed your cards and are getting desperate, here is the answer - a 2 minute Christmas Card!

These cards are so simple to make yet still have the individual handmade look and feel to them.

I made these from a pack of holographic tags which have been sitting in my "stash" for so many years that I can't remember where I got them from.

The card toppers were free from a cardmaking magazine and were fixed to the gift tag with 3D foam pads to add some dimension to the card.

I used some glitter to add a bit of sparkle to the card toppers and then finished off with a peel off sentiment and a bit of off-cut ribbon. ( Another reason why not to throw anything away, even small off cuts can come in useful!)

The card blank used was a white 3½"  square.

These may not be the most elegant of homemade christmas cards but they are quick, jolly and full of Christmas cheer!

Saturday was World Card Making Day and what a good day I had.
In the morning I went to see a friend's daughter getting married and I have to say that she was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen, and boy did she enjoy her wedding.
And then I spent the whole afternoon and evening making cards- what bliss!

I've just started my push on making Christmas Cards -I'm part of a small card making team at Longton Community Church and each year we make about 500 Christmas cards which we sell to raise funds for a Children's Home in Uganda. For every card we sell we support one child for one day. So Saturday got my efforts off to a great start.

Because of the volume of cards we have to make we start off making the ones which are the easiest - so most of the ones I made on Saturday were made using background papers, glitter and card toppers. In my card making sessions I tend to concentrate on one type of card making, so Saturday was my day for quick cards. Another day I will move on to rubber stamping, another embossing etc.

Handmade Christmas Card Here's one of the first cards I made - I've used a pretty background  paper which wraps round the card. Then after matt and layering the card toppers onto mirror card I used 2cm double sided foam pads to fix them to the card. For a finishing touch I added glitter to the stars on the toppper and to the snowflakes on the background paper.

The funny thing is that once I'm in a Christmas card making mood I find it difficult to switch to another type of card
making - does this mean I am addicted to glitter and sparkle?

Do you find it easy to switch from type of card to another, or do you tend to concentrate on batches of Christmas Cards, batches of birthday cards etc?
